Library Building Updates
This page will be used to update the public on library building projects.
July 21, 2023
Beginning the week of July 24, the front entrance and bookdrop at the Main Library will be closed until further notice. Patrons can access the building via the back door at the top of the ramp. Books can be returned to the circulation desk during open hours or placed in the book drop at the bottom of the ramp.

The front of the Main Library will be getting a minor facelift in the coming weeks!
Crews will be on-site to remove, clean, and realign the front steps as well as install new handrails. During this time, the front door and book drop will be inaccessible. Patrons can access the building via the back door at the top of the ramp. Books can be returned to the circulation desk during open hours or placed in the book drop at the bottom of the ramp. We are also planning to repair and paint the fence at the Main Library this summer.
At the Spring Town Meeting in May 2023, funds were approved to address water drainage issues, replace the walkways, and further enhance the front of the Main Library. A construction schedule for this work has not yet been set, but we will provide updates as information becomes available. The Library is thankful for the support of residents and Town Meeting Members, we are excited to improve the appearance of this historic building.
While these improvements are being planned and implemented, we hope that you will continue to enjoy the native wildflower garden located in front of the Main Library. According to the U.S. Forest Service, native plants provide nectar, pollen, and seeds for native butterflies, insects, and birds, require little maintenance, and are beautiful. If you take a few moments, you might be lucky enough to see a couple butterflies or bees (perhaps from our observation hive!).
