The Dedham Public Library’s Children’s Department is proud to offer a number of wonderful programs and experiences for children of all ages and interests.
Please join Miss Meredith for monthly seasonal storytimes! We’ll read themed books and make a craft each time we meet. These programs meet in person in the children’s room at the Main library, and are designed for children ages 2-6 with their grown ups.
You’re never too young for the library! This program is designed specifically for children 2 and under and their caregivers. We’ll sing songs, read books, and safely socialize with each other as we work on building early literacy skills. This program will be held outside, weather permitting, and move indoors in the cold months.
Storytime with Ms. Lisa
Please join Ms. Lisa for Storytime at Endicott every Wednesday at 10:30AM. We’ll read, dance, and have fun together! Participants will “shake their sillies out” to fun songs and enjoy a selection of books. This program is intended for children ages 0-5, with their caregiver, and will be held outside as long as weather permits.
Monday Morning Music with Mr. Jonah
Endicott is rocking and rolling every Monday morning at 10:30AM! Little ones and their guardians will enjoy live music and singing with Jonah, our Librarian for Youth and Teen Services. Some are sing-alongs, some have a little dancing, and others are just for listening.
K-2 Book Group
Back to school means back to book group fun! Kindergarten-2nd grade students are invited to join us for a casual book discussion, light snacks, and a craft or activity. Books can be picked up a month before the scheduled meeting. Meetings are generally held the second Tuesday of the month at 4:00PM. Register for this program on Eventbrite.
3rd-5th Book Group
Back to school means back to book group fun! 3rd-5th grade students are invited to join us for a casual book discussion, light snacks, and a craft or activity. Books can be picked up a month before the scheduled meeting. Meetings are generally held the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00PM. Register for this program on Eventbrite.
The Dedham Public Library now offers its own private Minecraft Server for patrons aged 10 – 14. Our server supports Minecraft Java Edition (for PC/Mac), so unfortunately we cannot support other editions (such as Mobile or X-Box). The server is available weekly on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30, and requires registration at http://bit.ly/dplminecraft. And now for some Minecraft jargon: We are running survival mode, with no PVP, and keepinventory on. We are using a whitelist to restrict access only to registered users. Currently, players must own their own copy of the game to play, but we’re working on that. See you soon and happy mining!
We also offer multiple specialty programs throughout the year. Check our calendar for a complete list of youth programming.
If you have any questions or would like to suggest a children’s program please email Ms. Meredith, our wonderful Children’s Librarian, at email@example.com.
